A You would not be eligible to receive the TILA allowance as you are not leaving Formal or Informal Care.
? I was kicked out of home and moved in with some friends. Am I eligible?
A You may be eligible but this will depend upon two things. Firstly, you would need to be receiving an independent rate of an eligible payment such as Youth Allowance - Unreasonable to Live at Home (UTLAH) and secondly, you must be leaving your current accommodation and moving into your own independent accommodation within 6 weeks of applying for TILA.
? I am a State Ward or the Parental Responsibility of the Minister and want to continue living with my Foster Carer and apply for TILA. Would I be eligible?
A No. To be elgibile for the TILA allowance you must be making a transition from Care into independent living. This means moving into public housing or private rental. By remaining with your Foster Carer you are still considered to be in Care.
